…Ndidi becomes third Nigerian to be relegated
Leicester City, home to Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, have officially been relegated from the Premier League, becoming the second team to drop to the Championship this season after Southampton, with five matches still remaining.
The Foxes have had a tough time since returning to the Premier League, recording 18 points and going eight consecutive home league matches without scoring before their relegation was sealed by a 1-0 loss to Liverpool, who secured the win late on thanks to a goal from the returning Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Leicester’s defeat to Liverpool not only confirmed their relegation but also set an unfortunate record, making them the first team in Premier League history to go nine straight home matches without scoring a goal.

Remarkably, Leicester City head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, who replaced Steve Cooper following his dismissal in November, has secured only eight points from 20 Premier League matches, underscoring the team’s dismal run of form.
Wilfred Ndidi’s future at Leicester remains uncertain after the club’s second relegation in three years. The Nigerian midfielder was previously linked with Monaco during the January transfer window and is likely to be the subject of renewed transfer speculation this summer.
With five games remaining, Leicester will now be playing purely for pride, starting with a clash against an in-form Wolves side before welcoming already-relegated Southampton, where they’ll aim to finally break their goalless run at home.
