Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi set a new personal record yesterday, providing his fifth assist in a Premier League campaign for the first time in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Ipswich.

Ndidi provided his assist in the 69th minute, delivering a first-time pass to Kasey McAteer, who unleashed a powerful shot that beat Ipswich goalkeeper Alex Palmer at his near post, putting Leicester City 2-0 ahead.

Prior to Kasey McAteer’s goal — his first in the Premier League this season — Jamie Vardy opened the scoring for Leicester, marking his 500th appearance for the Foxes with his 200th goal, which came shortly before the half-hour mark.

Leicester went on to defeat Ipswich 2-0, marking their sixth Premier League win of the season and their second consecutive home victory — a notable improvement from their previous ten league home matches, in which they failed to secure a single win.

Ndidi’s new personal best surpasses his previous Premier League seasons with Leicester, where he registered four assists in the 2020–21 campaign and three in the 2017–18 season.

However, with Leicester City already relegated, the 28-year-old could be set to leave the club after more than eight years, as a £9 million release clause in his contract makes a summer exit possible.

Since arriving from Genk, Ndidi has had a successful spell with the Foxes, making 303 appearances and playing a key role in their historic first-ever FA Cup win, their Community Shield triumph, and their Championship title success.
