NAFA: Akeredolu vows to foster visibility for young women in American football

The President of the Nigeria American Football Association (NAFA) Babajide Akeredolu, has assured of his commitment to ensuring that women gained more visibility in American Football.

Akeredolu gave the assurance while welcoming Alles Charis Gas Limited as Zircon Partners with The Gridiron Gems Initiative, in Lagos.

He noted that the partnership will enable NAFA to further push the Gridiron Gems Initiative to reach more young women.

According to him, this will provide the young women with the resources and support they need to excel within and outside of the sport.

The NAFA President noted that the support from Alles Charis Group not only affirms their dedication to youth and community development but also reinforces the broader movement toward gender inclusion and opportunity through strategic partnerships.

The Coordinator of the Gridiron Gems Initiative, Nancy Damhindi said the partnership with Alles Charis Gas Limited as Zircon Partners marked a strengthened commitment to advancing access and visibility for women in Nigeria’s evolving sports ecosystem.

Damhindi explained that the generous contribution of Alles Charis Gas Limited will directly support a range of 2025 initiatives including the participation of Team Nigeria at international flag football competitions, female-focused skills development camps, and the All-Star female showcase.

“We are excited to partner with Alles Charis Group. Their commitment to social development and youth empowerment aligns perfectly with our mission to foster growth and opportunities for young women through American football” she stressed.

The Compliance and Public Relations Manager at Alles Charis Gas Limited, Esther Eze expressed the organization’s trust in the power of collaboration to drive real change.

She said Partnering with NAFA on the Gridiron GEMS Initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting inclusive, youth-driven programmes that empower girls beyond the playing field.
