Despite earning nominations for their standout performances this campaign, Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina have been left out of the EA Sports FC Premier League Team of the Season announced today.
Alex Iwobi was nominated thanks to his consistent displays for Fulham, where he has scored nine goals and registered six assists in 32 starts. On the other hand, Ola Aina was recognised for his impressive defensive contributions, so much that his absence was deeply felt by Nottingham Forest following a calf injury he suffered last month.
The 28-year-old has since recovered from the injury setback, making his comeback in Forest’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Brentford.

Leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah was included in the Team of the Season, joining his Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister in recognition of their significant roles in the club’s title-winning campaign.
Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer, Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, and Bruno Fernandes were other players selected for their outstanding performances for their respective teams.
Matheus Cunha, Milos Kerkez, Mats Sels, Bukayo Saka, Chris Wood, Antonee Robinson, Nikola Milenkovic, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kaoru Mitoma, and James Tarkowski rounded out the team.
Despite missing out on the team of the season, Ola Aina will be aiming to maintain his strong form for Nottingham Forest as they look to revive their Champions League hopes with four vital matches remaining in the season.
Similarly, Alex Iwobi will be keen to help Fulham secure European football next season. The Nigerian midfielder is also close to hitting double digits for goals in a Premier League season for the first time in his career.
