Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has maintained his impressive form, assisting both goals to help Middlesbrough defeat Blackburn 2-0 in their Championship clash at the Ewood Park on Friday.
Kelechi Iheanacho, fresh from scoring his first goal for Middlesbrough in their 2-1 win over Oxford United was rewarded with his fourth consecutive start, featuring alongside Tommy Conway in attack.
The experienced Nigerian striker wasted no time in picking up from where he stopped, assisting Conway’s goal in the 2nd minute before picking out Samuel Iling-Junior, who netted his first goal in Boro colours to double the visitors’ advantage.

Following his assists, Kelechi Iheanacho remained a menace in attack, showcasing his work ethic off the ball and coming close to scoring for the second game in a row on multiple occasions. He also created the most chances in the match (4) before being substituted for Daniel Barlaser in the 85th minute.
Despite controlling possession in an attempt to level the scoreline, Blackburn were unable to penetrate the Middlesbrough defense, with Michael Carrick’s side ultimately securing a crucial 2-0 victory.
Middlesbrough’s away win propels them to fifth on the Championship table with 60 points in 40 games, three points ahead of West Brom who are just outside the playoff spots. Meanwhile, the disappointing home loss means Blackburn remain 11th with 52 points.
With six games remaining until the end of the season, Middlesbrough are still firmly in contention for Premier League promotion and will aim to hold onto their playoff position by securing victories in upcoming games.
