In-form Nigerian forward Gift Orban continued his impressive run of form, scoring for the second consecutive game to rescue a late point for Hoffenheim in their 1-1 draw against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Gift Orban, who had already scored three goals in six Bundesliga matches, was once again entrusted with leading the attack by Hoffenheim head coach, Christian Ilzer. The Nigerian forward’s goal-scoring exploits have been a major factor in Hoffenheim’s recent resurgence, and he was tasked with spearheading the attack against Stuttgart.

However, it was Stuttgart who drew first blood, scoring in the 9th minute through Nick Woltemade’s effort to take the lead. The goal gave Stuttgart the momentum they needed, and they continued to press for a second goal to seal the game.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Stuttgart seeking to kill the game off. However, Hoffenheim refused to give up, and their persistence paid off in the 74th minute as Gift Orban received a pass from Andrej Kramaric, coolly controlled the ball, and unleashed a fierce shot into the back of the net to level the scoreline.

In response to Orban’s equalizer, Stuttgart pushed hard to retake the lead, but they were unable to convert their chances. As a result, the game ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sharing the spoils.

The draw took Hoffenheim up to 14th place in the table with 22 points from 23 matches, seven points clear of the relegation zone. Stuttgart, meanwhile, remain in 7th position with 36 points, two points adrift of Leipzig, who occupy the Conference League qualifying spot.

Motivated by Gift Orban’s impressive form, which has seen him score four goals since joining the team in January, Hoffenheim will seek to maintain their momentum when they face Bochum in their next Bundesliga game on Saturday.
