Benin Republic on Saturday resumed training ahead of their matchday 4, 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Monday against neighbours, Nigeria

Super Eagles head coach Geroge Finidi will be hoping to have the likes of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Semi Ajayi fit for the game after both players picked up a knock in the match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

It will be the first time the head coach of the Beninois national team, Gernot Rohr, will be playing against the Super Eagles, a team he managed for six years. Gernot Rohr orchestrated Nigeria’s qualification to the 2024 World Cup in Russia with two games to spare.

Benin after a two-day rest resumed training on Saturday and will have their final preparatory session later today at the Félix Houphouet Boigny stadium in Ivory Coast.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will also have a training session today ahead of the game. Nigeria will be hoping to get their World Cup hopes back on track by beating Benin in no-man land.
