Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored his first hatrick for Galatasaray on Friday, helping the Turkish Champions trash Antalyaspor 4-0 at the RAMS Park, securing a crucial result that took them 10 points clear of Fenerbahçe.

Galatasaray were under pressure to deliver a home win, having drawn their last three matches at the RAMS Park, and to create some breathing room over Fenerbahçe, who were gaining ground in their bid to claim the league title with 10 games remaining.

However, Victor Osimhen was in scintillating form during the first half, propelling Galatasaray to a commanding 3-0 halftime lead with a brace that brought his league tally to 19 goals.

The Nigerian striker could infact have scored a first-half hatrick, nonetheless, he selflessly allowed Alvaro Morata to take a penalty, which the Spanish striker duly converted to further extend Galatasaray’s advantage going into half time.

Victor Osimhen sealed his hat-trick in style during the second half, thanks to a brilliant pass from Yunus Akgün. The Nigerian striker controlled the ball with ease before unleashing a low shot that sailed past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

With Galatasaray comfortably ahead, Osimhen was substituted out in the 68th minute, making way for Dries Mertens. His hat-trick marked a significant milestone, as it was his first for Galatasaray and third overall in his club career. His impressive performance also propelled him to the top of the Turkish Super Lig’s scoring charts, with 20 goals to his name.

Galatasaray’s convincing win propelled them to 71 points from 27 matches, establishing a 10-point cushion over second-placed Fenerbahçe, who have two games in hand. The impending international break offers the Turkish champions a timely opportunity to recover injured players and recharge for the season’s final push.

On the other hand, Victor Osimhen will promptly join the Super Eagles’ camp in Kigali, Rwanda, as they prepare for crucial World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. Osimhen will aim to replicate his scintillating club form with Galatasaray for the national team, hoping to propel Nigeria to vital victories.
