Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka is expected to return to the Premier League at the end of the season following the conclusion of his loan spell at German club FC Augsburg.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Augsburg do not have plans to make Onyeka’s move from Brentford permanent, with no negotiations currently ongoing between both clubs.

Onyeka joined Augsburg on a season-long loan last summer in search of more playing time, and has made 25 Bundesliga appearances this campaign. However, with the loan deal set to expire in June, the Nigerian is now set to return to Brentford, where he has two years left on his contract.

The 26-year-old played for the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, helping Nigeria reach the final before losing to the hosts.

Onyeka joined Brentford in 2021 from Danish club FC Midtjylland and signed a new four-year deal in 2023, but has struggled for consistent game time in the Premier League in recent times. His return could offer the Bees more midfield options next season, although his long-term future at the club remains uncertain.
