Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili cruised into the women’s 200m semifinals at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Sunday, clocking a season-best time of 22.24 seconds to win Heat 6.

Overcoming the disappointment of being omitted from the women’s 100m, Ofili delivered a strong performance.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith finished second (22.28s), and Gambia’s Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye secured the third automatic qualifying spot (22.84s).

Ofili faces a tough challenge in the semifinals, where she’ll compete against top sprinters including reigning Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred.

Other star athletes in her semi-final Heat are; Gabrielle Thomas, Dina Asher-Smith, Brittany Brown, Daryll Neita, Neisha Burgher, McKenzie Long, and Jessika Gbai.
