Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has expressed her confidence ahead of Nigeria’s Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) clash against Botswana, assuring fans to look forward to more goals and victories, Bold Sports reports.
Despite starting the opening game from the bench, Okoronkwo was named as the Player of the Match for her outstanding second-half performance as the Super Falcons secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Tunisia at the Stade El Arbi Zaouli.
The forward was one of six players who featured in their first-ever WAFCON match during that encounter, joining Ijamilusi Folashade, Rinsola Babajide, Abiodun Deborah, Jennifer Echegini, and Demehin Oluwatosin in making their tournament debuts.
Nonetheless, Okoronkwo believes that there is still much more to come from the Super Falcons, confidently stating in an interview with Sports Journalist Victor Ademola that: “Nigerians should expect more goals and more wins.”

Speaking on how the team plans to improve, she explained: “We only have to take the positives and fix what is needed to be fixed from the previous game. Go back, watch the videos, make some corrections, and keep working as a team.”
Okoronkwo also sent a message to supporters, assuring them that the team will return home with the trophy: “We need as much fans as we can get and we need support, so keep supporting, and we’re gonna get the trophy.”
Okoronkwo will be hoping to continue her impressive form as Nigeria face Botswana in their next group match on Thursday, with the Super Falcons aiming to build on their strong start and secure qualification to the quarterfinals.
