Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has cautioned his players to remain concentrated and focused ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, as a win is essential to sustaining Nigeria’s momentum.
The Super Eagles boosted their 2026 World Cup qualifying hopes with a crucial 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi in Kigali, moving up to fourth in their group. However, a win against Zimbabwe is now imperative to fully revive their qualification chances.
At his pre-match press conference, Eric Chelle, cautioned that despite the impressive win over Rwanda, the team must remain focused, emphasizing that the upcoming match against Zimbabwe will pose a significant challenge.

In his words: “We need to be focused on the second game, it’s the most important now, I’m proud of what my players did in Rwanda, it was very difficult but they got the job done.”
“We worked yesterday, we made a good training session so we need to go again to the pitch to prepare the game. It will not be easy because Zimbabwe have a good team with good players and a good coach. We need to be focused on our team and get the job done tomorrow,” the Malian tactician asserted.
The Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo is set to be packed to capacity for the highly-anticipated showdown between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Zimbabwe’s Warriors, scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time.
In a gesture to boost fan support, Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has purchased all 30,000 tickets, encouraging a sell-out crowd to rally behind the Nigerian national team.
