Enyimba has departed Nigeria and are on their way to Egypt for a must-win clash against Zamalek SC in the final group game of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Enyimba currently sit third in Group D with five points, just one point behind Al Masry SC, who host Black Bulls Maputo in their final group game. On the other hand, Zamalek SC has already clinched the top spot in the group with 11 points.
”The people’s Elephants” thus face a challenging task, needing a miraculous away win against Egyptian side Zamalek, who boast an unbeaten record in the group stage and an impressive 11-game unbeaten streak across all competitions.
Enyimba will look to draw inspiration from their previous encounter with Zamalek, where they staged a thrilling comeback to secure a 2-2 draw, overturning a 2-0 deficit at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Due to their rich history of competing against foreign teams, Zamalek SC earned the nickname “Qahir-al-Aganib” which means “the conqueror of foreigners. Despite having already secured qualification, Zamalek will be motivated to avoid a loss in front of their loyal supporters.
Enyimba’s hopes rest on key players like Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, who has a proven track record against their upcoming opponents, having scored in the previous encounter. Additionally, Ihemekwele was on the scoresheet in the draw against Al Masry, netting the only goal for Enyimba.
Enyimba will also be counting on the seasoned expertise of Brown Ideye, who has already made an impact with two goals since joining the team. Additionally, the in-form Joseph Atule is expected to play a crucial role in their quest for victory.
