Samuel Chukwueze’s AC Milan were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League after a 1-1 draw against Feyenoord at San Siro on Tuesday, with the Dutch side progressing 2-1 on aggregate.

Milan, needing a win to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit, started brightly and got the perfect response when Santiago Gimenez tapped in after just 36 seconds.

The goal, coming off a well-worked short corner routine, gave the Rossoneri early momentum as they dominated possession and created several chances. However, wastefulness in front of goal cost them, with Rafael Leão, Tijjani Reijnders, João Félix, and Theo Hernández all failing to convert opportunities before halftime.

The game took a dramatic turn early in the second half when Hernández was shown a second yellow card for simulation in the box, reducing Milan to 10 men. That moment swung the match in Feyenoord’s favor, with the visitors growing into the game and exploiting spaces in midfield.

Their persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when substitute Julián Carranza headed home from close range after an excellent cross from Igor Paixão, putting the Dutch side back in control of the tie.

Milan’s desperation saw them push forward in the final minutes, with Chukwueze introduced in the 83rd minute to add attacking firepower. However, Feyenoord held firm, frustrating their hosts and securing their first-ever place in the Champions League round of 16.

The result marked Milan’s second elimination at the hands of a Dutch club in the Champions League, having lost the 1995 final to Ajax. Feyenoord, meanwhile, will now await Friday’s draw, where they could face either Inter Milan or Arsenal in the next round.
