…Chrisantus Uche had a breakthrough season in La Liga

Nigerian midfielder Chrisantus Uche is one of the breakout stars of the La Liga season — and now he’s drawing serious interest from some of Europe’s biggest leagues.

The 22-year-old Getafe star, who joined from third-tier side Ceuta for just €500,000 last summer, has seen his value skyrocket after a string of standout performances in Spain’s top flight.

From scoring on his La Liga debut against Athletic Club at San Mames to becoming a regular under manager Jose Bordalas, Uche’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable.

Originally a holding midfielder, Uche was pushed further up the pitch and has flourished in more attacking roles, showcasing strength, energy, and creativity — qualities that have caught the eye of multiple clubs.

While early season reports linked him to Chelsea, fresh scouting visits by Brentford, Bournemouth, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa suggest serious Premier League interest in the Nigerian. Football España reports that scouts from all four clubs have attended Getafe matches in recent weeks to assess him up close.

Back in Spain, Atletico Madrid are also interested. Diego Simeone’s side believes Uche’s physicality and technical ability would be a perfect fit for their midfield.

However, with Getafe demanding €25 million — the value of his release clause — Atletico may face a tough negotiation.

The Madrid club is reportedly reluctant to pay more than €15 million, especially as they pursue Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso for the deeper midfield role.

Uche, who this week earned his first call-up to the Nigerian national team, is believed to be open to a move, with sources indicating he has asked Getafe to facilitate a transfer this summer.
