Nigerian midfielder Chrisantus Uche received a red card for the second time in four games as Getafe lost 1-0 to Espanyol in their La liga clash at the RCDE stadium on Friday.

Chrisantus Uche had previously been sent off after receiving two yellow cards within the space of three minutes in Getafe’s 2-1 win over Osasuna, leading to a one-game suspension before he returned with two assists in a 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid.

However, the 21-year-old experienced another disappointing night against Espanyol, receiving a straight red card in the 60th minute which means that he will be suspended for the next three games.

Espanyol’s winner came prior to Chrisantus Uche’s sending off as Marash Kumbulla scored his third goal of the season in the 39th minute following a set piece, ultimately securing the home side’s third consecutive league win.

The hard-fought victory took Espanyol up to 12th on the La Liga table with 38 points, one point behind Getafe who remain 11th on the table after back-to-back losses.

Espanyol will be hoping to maintain their impressive winning streak when they face off against Valencia on Tuesday, April 22. Meanwhile, Getafe will be looking to avoid another defeat when they host a wounded Real Madrid side, fresh off their Champions League elimination.
