Nigerian midfielder Chrisantus Uche provided his sixth league assist of the campaign but it was not enough to secure a victory for Getafe as they lost 2-1 to Celta Vigo in their final La Liga match of the season on Saturday.
After scoring his fourth league goal of the season in the previous league game against Mallorca to help Getafe end a six-game losing streak, Uche was involved again against Celta Vigo, setting up Borja Mayoral’s early goal to put the hosts ahead.
However, Getafe were unable to hold on to their lead as Borja Iglesias equalised in the 25th minute, and Iago Aspas scored in the 80th minute to complete the comeback, securing a victory for the visitors and sending them to next season’s Europa League.
Meanwhile, the result left Getafe in 13th place on the La Liga table with 42 points, one point fewer than they achieved last season.

With another assist in the match, Chrisantus Uche’s total goal contributions across all competitions rose to 10 — an impressive feat for his debut season in Getafe and the top flight.
The 22-year-old will aim to continue his remarkable development, as he is set to make his debut for the Super Eagles after receiving an invitation from head coach Eric Chelle for the Unity Cup tournament in London and Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia.
