Chippa United have identified Kruger United goalkeeper Njabulo Cebekhulu as a potential replacement for Super Eagles star Stanley Nwabali, who is expected to depart at the end of the season.
Nwabali, a Nigerian international, has spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Chilli Boys but is now tipped for a move to either Kaizer Chiefs or a club in Europe.
According to sources in South Africa, Chippa United are already planning for life after Nwabali and have begun efforts to secure Cebekhulu’s services ahead of the new season.

Cebekhulu, who previously played for Golden Arrows and Polokwane City, struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at both clubs. A potential move to Chippa United would see him reunite with former coach Mabhuti Khenyeza, under whom he trained during his time at Golden Arrows.
“Chippa don’t want to be caught off guard when Nwabali leaves at the end of the season. There’s a strong possibility he could join Kaizer Chiefs or move abroad, so Cebekhulu is being lined up as the ideal replacement,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
However, Chippa United aren’t the only club interested in the talented shot-stopper. SuperSport United are also reportedly monitoring Cebekhulu closely.
“Both SuperSport United and Chippa United have been watching him. It will ultimately come down to how things unfold at the end of the season, but there’s definitely strong interest,” the insider added.
