Chelsea have lined up Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson as alternatives should they fall short on signing Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, in the summer.

The Premier League giant will be looking to beat the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and top Saudi Arabian suitors to the signature of the Nigerian striker, who over the last couple of seasons has been one of the most sought-after footballers in Europe.

Expectedly, it will be another battle of giants to sign the Nigerian this summer. PSG have listed the 25-year-old as a strong contender to replace Kylian Mbappe who will be leaving the French club in the summer, while a couple of wealthy Saudi clubs, who saw over €110 million bid rejected by Napoli last summer, are still determined to have him in the Middle East.

According to reports, Chelsea are willing to pay the €130 million buyout clause for Osimhen, who is more likely to sanction a move to the Premier League. However, should the move fail to materialize, the Blues will go for either Toney or Ferguson, according to the Evening Standard.

For PSG, Osimhen will serve as a cheaper option to another of their targets, Raphael Leao, who has a €175 million buyout clause from AC Milan.

Napoli will only let the Nigerian leave for the fee which was recently agreed upon when he signed a contract extension in December of 2023.
