Alex Iwobi’s impressive assist wasn’t enough to save Fulham from defeat as Brighton staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 2-1 win in their thrilling Premier League clash at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Brighton have been on a hot streak since their embarrassing 7-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, winning five consecutive games in all competitions. Similarly, Fulham were riding high after defeating Manchester United in the FA Cup.
The London side took the confidence from defeating the FA Cup defending champions into the game against Brighton, pressing resiliently and scoring in the 35th minute after Alex Iwobi drove the ball from his own half before finding Raul Jimenez, who expertly put Fulham ahead with a clinical finish.

However, Brighton quickly equalized with Jan Paul Van Hecke’s brilliant header off the post, securing his first Brighton goal and a crucial equalizer before halftime, which kept the home team’s hopes of a win alive.
Brighton thought they’d taken the lead after halftime, but Mitoma’s goal was disallowed for offside, and Adingra’s finish minutes later suffered the same fate, causing frustration for the home team and their fans.
Despite the disappointment, Brighton persisted and continued to push for a winner, and their efforts were eventually rewarded with a penalty in the game’s final seconds, which Joao Pedro confidently converted to seal Brighton’s first-ever Premier League win over Fulham.
The hard-fought victory propelled Brighton to sixth place in the Premier League with 46 points, while Fulham remained 10th with 42 points, five points behind fourth-placed Manchester City who lost to Nottingham Forest.
Fulham will aim to immediately bounce back from the disappointing result when they host Tottenham in their next Premier League game on Sunday, March 16, while Brighton will seek to build on their winning momentum to secure another crucial win when they travel to face Manchester City.
