Birmingham City have officially announced the signing of Super Eagles fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel, with the deal subject to clearance, Bold Sports reports.
The 27-year-old right-back arrives at the Championship club on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Osayi-Samuel has committed to a three-year contract that will keep him at St Andrew’s until the summer of 2028 and he is immediately set to join his new teammates as they begin their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
The Blues reportedly fended off strong interest from several clubs to secure Osayi-Samuel’s services. Speaking after completing his move, the fullback revealed that Birmingham’s long-term vision was the key factor in his decision.
“I think it’s the project,” he said. “I spoke to the owner, I spoke to the manager, and it’s a project with ambitions about what they want to do.”
Osayi-Samuel highlighted the club’s recent success and its clear targets for the future as aligning with his own personal goals: “Of course they did well last season getting promoted, and the ambition is not just to compete, but to get straight to the Premier League.”
“Those are my ambitions too. I want to play in the Premier League and show everyone what I can do, and I think Birmingham City are giving me a platform to showcase that so I think those are the main reasons I decided to come here.”
Having joined Fenerbahce in January 2021, Osayi-Samuel went on to make 126 appearances for the Turkish side. His time at the club, including a spell under legendary Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, has been a defining chapter in his career and one he believes has prepared him for his next challenge.

“Playing for the biggest team in Turkey by a margin was an honour,” he reflected. “I learned so much, I feel like I was a kid and they turned me into a man. I’m very grateful to Fenerbahçe, they did so much for me, and I’ve learned so much.”
“Coming to Birmingham City now is another step for me, an opportunity to show everyone where I’ve been for the last four years.”
Osayi-Samuel’s career began at Blackpool, where he progressed through the club’s academy and made his professional debut in 2015. He featured in 79 games for the club, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
He later secured a move to Queens Park Rangers on 1 September 2017, signing a three-year deal with the London club. During his time at QPR, Osayi-Samuel made 115 appearances, netting 13 goals and delivering 12 assists.
