Turkish club Besiktas are now showing serious interest in Southampton forward Paul Onuachu. According to Sabah, Besiktas has identified the 30-year-old Nigeria international as an ideal replacement for Vincent Aboubakar, who is expected to leave the Black Eagles this summer.
The report further revealed that the move for Onuachu will depend on Besiktas’ new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The Dutchman was appointed as the club’s new head coach this week, and the idea of signing the player will be presented to him by the board.
The Turkish outlet also mentioned that Southampton, who gained promotion back to the Premier League after their 1-0 win over Leeds in the Promotional playoffs, would want around €12m for the forward.
Onuachu spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor, and his performances for the Super Lig side have brought him to the attention of other Turkish clubs. The former Genk striker made 25 appearances last season for Trabzonspor, scoring an impressive 17 goals. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
Onuachu is currently with the Nigerian national team squad preparing for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
