Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey scored his first premier league goal of the season to seal a thrilling 2-1 victory for Fulham over Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Fulham’s momentum was already building, having secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Wigan and notched three victories in their previous five outings. Similarly, Nottingham Forest’s most recent match saw them edge Exeter on penalties in a gripping cup tie.

The Cottagers initially took the lead courtesy of Emile Smith Rowe’s pinpoint header, only to be pegged back by Chris Wood’s 18th league strike of the season. Undeterred, Marco Silva’s charges regained their stride in the second half, culminating in Calvin Bassey’s well-deserved winning header.

Fulham’s overall dominance was striking, whereas Nottingham Forest struggled to replicate their customary flair in front of goal, ultimately failing to craft meaningful scoring opportunities.

The triumph catapulted Fulham to eighth place, a mere five points adrift of reigning champions Manchester City in fourth. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest retained their third-place standing despite the setback.

Up next for Fulham is a London derby against Crystal Palace while Nottingham Forest will seek to immediately bounce back when they face Newcastle in a crucial encounter.
