In a surprising twist, Tolu Arokodare has revealed he might remain at Genk for another season, aiming to help the Blauw-Wit clinch their first domestic league title since the 2018/19 campaign.
Arokodare enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 season, finishing as the top scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with 21 goals in 40 appearances. Despite his impressive tally, Genk narrowly lost out to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the league title.
The Nigeria international has been widely expected to headline Genk’s summer departures, with several top European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation. Genk are said to value the striker at around €20 million.

However, in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg, as reported by Voetbalnieuws, Arokodare stunned fans in Belgium by hinting at the possibility of staying put for the 2025/26 season.
“The next step? Hopefully win the title. I don’t think I’ll leave Genk,” he said. “There hasn’t been a farewell ceremony for me yet. At the moment, I’m a Genk player and my focus is on that. It’s normal that there is interest after a good season, but the level here is also high. We’ll see.”
Arokodare remains under contract with Genk until mid-2027, and his current market value is estimated at around €13 million.
