Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are determined to secure the signing of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, aiming to make him the first signing under Simone Inzaghi, whose appointment as Head Coach is almost finalised.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Simone Inzaghi who twice guided Inter Milan to the Champions League final, is set to become the new Head Coach of Al Hilal this week, agreeing to a three-year contract with the Saudi club.

The agreement between Al Hilal and Simone Inzaghi was accelerated because of the club’s involvement in the upcoming Club World Cup, as the management believes the Italian coach has the ability to lead a deep run into the competition.

With the coaching situation resolved, Al Hilal will now focus on strengthening their squad before the Club World Cup begins. Their attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was rejected as the Portuguese wants to continue playing in Europe.

However, they have now made contact with Atalanta midfielder Ederson and continue to show interest in Victor Osimhen, with official proposals expected to be submitted soon.

Reports suggest that while Manchester United are also pursuing Victor Osimhen, Al Hilal currently hold the upper hand due to their ability to offer a more lucrative salary package, especially after their failed attempt to land Bruno Fernandes despite presenting a significantly high wage proposal.

Nonetheless, it remains uncertain whether Victor Osimhen will opt to join Al Hilal or continue his career in Europe, where several clubs are still interested in activating his release clause to secure his services before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Nigerian striker had an outstanding 2024-25 season, winning the Süper Lig Golden Boot with 26 goals and playing a key role in Galatasaray’s 25th league title, as well as their first Turkish Cup victory since 2019.

While Galatasaray supporters remain hopeful that Osimhen will stay with them, it is expected that the Nigerian striker has played his last game for the Turkish club and will now explore his options for the future.
