Nigeria and Sevilla striker Akor Adams is staying positive and maintaining a strong mindset despite sustaining a muscle injury which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old played all 90 minutes in Atletico Madrid’s late 2-1 victory over Sevilla, however, he sustained an injury after the match, ending his tough season on a disappointing note. Prior to the game, he had regained fitness following a hamstring injury that kept him out for over 1 month.
Akor Adams’ January transfer to Sevilla aimed to revive his career after a disappointing end to his time at Montpellier, where an 11-game goal drought led to his departure. The Spanish side were eager to see what the striker could bring, loaning out fellow Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho to create space in the squad.

However, after coming on for Saul Niguez in the 81st minute, making his debut for Sevilla against Getafe, Akor Adams unfortunately suffered an injury in training, which marked the start of a troublesome injury streak that has ultimately led to his season-ending injury.
Despite his struggles, Akor Adams shared a Bible verse on Instagram, showcasing his strong mindset and faith as he navigates his recovery from injury: “Even when bad things happen to the good and godly ones, the lord will save them and not let them be defeated by what they face. Psalms 34:19 TPT.”

Due to his recent injury, Sevilla will have to utilise Spaniard Isaac Romero and Puerto Rico youngster Leandro Antonetti as their striking options for the rest of the season.
Sevilla face off against in-form Valencia today in a highly-anticipated La Liga clash, and while Akor Adams will be sidelined with injury, they will need to stop another Nigerian striker — Sadiq Umar — who will be looking to increase his tally after scoring four goals in his last seven league games.
