Despite missing out on Eric Chelle’s 23-man squad for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has thrown his full support behind the team, urging them to go all out for maximum points.

Musa was a surprise inclusion in Chelle’s 39-man provisional squad earlier this month but did not make the final 23-man list announced today.

However, the Kano Pillars forward remains fully behind the team, sending his best wishes and encouraging them to secure victories against Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 and Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25.

“The team is one, and any player called upon to represent the Super Eagles must give their all. I am fully behind the team and will be cheering them on to victory in these World Cup qualifiers,” Musa told Modzerosport.

Musa, who made his Super Eagles debut in 2010, is Nigeria’s most-capped player and one of the nation’s most beloved footballers. He has shone on the biggest stage, scoring four goals across two different World Cups.

Nigeria currently sit fifth in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers with just three points from four matches, having recorded three draws and one loss. To keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico alive, they must win all their remaining group games.
