Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has been appointed as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, Bold Sports reports.
The development was confirmed on Kano Pillars’ official X page on Friday evening, with supporters expressing hope that Musa’s appointment will help improve their fortunes following a ninth-place finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season.
Musa’s appointment to Kano Pillars’ management team is seen as a major boost for the club. His vast experience at both domestic and international levels is expected to positively influence the team’s performance, instill professionalism, and attract greater attention and investment to the club.
The 31-year-old began his career with GBS Academy in Jos before joining Kano Pillars on loan during the 2009–10 NPFL season, where he made an instant impact by scoring 18 league goals in 25 matches.

His standout performances earned him a move to Europe with Dutch side VVV-Venlo, where he played from 2010 to 2012, scoring eight league goals in 37 appearances.
Musa’s club career flourished at CSKA Moscow, where he spent four seasons and won three Russian Premier League titles, along with the Russian Cup and Super Cup.
He later joined Premier League side Leicester City in 2016 for a then-club record fee, though his time in England was brief. Musa went on to play for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, and Turkish sides Fatih Karagümrük and Sivasspor, before making a sensational return to Kano Pillars in 2024.
On the international stage, Musa is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished players. He made his senior debut for the Super Eagles in 2010 and went on to earn over 100 caps, scoring 16 goals.

Musa was part of Nigeria’s triumphant 2013 Africa Cup of Nations squad and made history by becoming the first Nigerian to score in two different FIFA World Cup tournaments — netting twice against Argentina in 2014 and scoring another brace against Iceland in 2018.
With Musa now taking on a new challenge off the pitch, Kano Pillars will be hoping his winning mentality and deep footballing knowledge can drive the club to greater heights in the coming seasons.
